PhD. Lucía Dammert, new Chief of Advisors to the Presidency of the Republic
On March 12, Dammert, PhD in Political Science and member of the Department of Political Studies, began her work as Chief Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic.
Professor Dammert has worked in academic institutions in the United States, Argentina and Chile. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Political Studies at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. He has published articles and books on community participation, citizen security, social conflict and urban issues in national and international journals.
In the field of public management, he has participated in citizen security programs in several countries of the region. Member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), of the Board of Directors of the Centro de Pensamiento Espacio Público, of the Americas Division of Human Rights Watch, and of the non-governmental organization Asuntos del Sur. He is part of the Advisory Council on Disarmament Issues of the Secretary General of the United Nations for the period 2017-2021.
Likewise, during more than 20 years of international experience I have received multiple recognitions, awards and distinctions. Among the most relevant are: Visiting Professor at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. Harvard University 2020; Advisor member of the United Nations Secretary General's Advisory Council on Disarmament Issues, 2017- 2020; International Ambassador of the British Society of Criminology, invited international member, 2018- 2020; Woodrow Wilson Center Global Fellow. Distinction awarded by the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars to leaders worldwide for their academic and public policy development, 2015-2020; Woodrow Wilson Center Fellow, 2008.
