Dr. Mauricio Olavarría-Gambi is a full professor at the University of Santiago, Chile. He has held various leadership positions at universities and has been a consultant for the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, EuroSocial, Pan-American Health Organization, Latin American Center for Development Administration (CLAD, acronym in Spanish), Latin American governments, and Chilean governmental agencies.

He is the Regional Editor for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Public Organization Review (POR) and of the “Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration, Public Policy and Governance” of the Springer Meteor Publishing House. He has also been an Alternative Director for the Study Group on Legal and Political Science (Grupo de Estudios de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas in Spanish) for FONDECYT - CONICYT, Coordinator for the Committee of Public Policies and Public Administration (Comité dePolíticas Públicas y Administración del Estado de Becas Chile in Spanish) Chile Scholarship - CONICYT and a member of the Public Policies Panel on Equal Access to Grants for the Fulbright Commission. He is a member of editorial committees of indexed academic journals in Europe, North America, Latin America and Chile.

His research, publications and teaching focus on public policy, reform and modernization of the State, poverty, inequality and criminality. He is also the author of nine books, 25 book chapters, more than 43 articles published in indexed international academic journals, and numerous professional reports published in both Chile and abroad.
