Ignacio González Correa is an Economist with a master’s in economic history from the University of Santiago, Chile. He teaches World Economic History, Macroeconomics and Political Economy at the University of Santiago, Chile. In addition, he teaches economic notions at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Chile. Furthermore, between 2016 and 2019, he worked in the public sector at BancoEstado (the State Bank of Chile). His academic research focuses on the Latin American financial market, especially on Chilean state financial institutions, focusing on economic and business history. His works have been published in journals such as Historia Agraria (Agrarian History), the Journal of Iberian and Latin American Economic History, and the Journal of Evolutionary Studies in Business. He teaches International Political Economy II (EPI II, acronym in Spanish) for the international studies bachelor’s program, where he analyzes the political economy behind different international monetary systems from the 19th century to the present with the primary goal of applying economic reasoning to explain the decision-making of current actors regarding monetary policy and exchange rate.
